A New Journey in Heart Health and Yoga

Are You looking for Peace and Tranquility?
Hi, I’m Sherry and I’d like to take you to a mindful conscious state of mind
The American Heart Association notes that yoga can “put the brakes on the body’s stress response,” which can reduce the side effects of stress, like high blood pressure, and lower risk for heart disease. Small studies have also shown that yoga may help other risk factors for heart disease. Yoga is effective in dealing with stress and pressure. That, itself, can heal a heart patient. There are specific asanas in yoga for heart problems. Take a new journey in heart health and Yoga, you’ll be amazed at the results.
The goal of yoga is to find peace and Tranquility and you’ll find it through mindful yoga. You’ve been working that stressful job or maybe two jobs to keep the family going month to month, and its high stress levels and tension. Mindful yoga, or mindful exercise, requires paying attention and being fully present when you are moving. I invite you to take a new journey in heart health and yoga, you’ll be glad you did.
That’s just one of many different types of yoga. I personally need a mixture of cardio strength and flexibility training in which they all offer. Mindful yoga means listening to your body (and learning how to discern your body’s communication signals) so that you know when you need to stop and when you can challenge yourself to do more.

Make a conscious decision
A conscious thought is something you’re engaged with; you are very aware of what you are thinking and why you are thinking it. You just had a conscious thought; you made a decision to think it in this moment. So, we know that we are aware of our ability to be conscious with in everything we do all day long.
If you haven’t rode a bike in 20 years, you still have an automatic thought process that tells your body how to ride a bike. Today, decades later you are able to automatically access the habit on auto pilot. You just simply do it. Let’s move on to new thoughts and replace those thoughts on auto replay.
A New Journey
At a cellular level, the mind, body connection created in yoga is a dimensional thought to facilitate change. Yoga and similar meditation practices teach people how to calm their mind and find peace and happiness. Yoga is the only form of discipline that is a physical, mental and spiritual exercise. Of course, you may also experience weight loss. (I’ve lost 16 pounds between my rowing machine and yoga). In a nutshell, yoga’s results are what you put into it, and it’s what you get out of it. So, let’s get busy and dig deeper, I’m addressing all beginners and seniors as well! For those that are limited in mobility, or recovering from surgery, please discuss a new exercise regimen with your doctor prior to starting.
Introduction to yoga
People who are into yoga often use the words Asana and Dhyana, which originate from Hindu culture. Asana is used to describe yoga poses, while Dhyana stands for meditation. I like the meditation aspect of yoga, (gentle yoga) it just feels right and healthy, even my instructor told me I looked much better, not so stressed, and that was just one session! It wasn’t just so I’d keep returning for the compliments, I really felt better!
I was first interested in yoga because of my muscle mass starting to fade away with age, along with a couple of heart issues, A-Fib then followed by a pacemaker. It took me 3 years to get where I am today which is walking at a longer distance than just to the kitchen and back to my bed, due to breathing issues, due to A-Fib. I can now walk around in the Safeway supermarket without getting winded, halfway through Costco (lol)…so I’m making progress in coming back to life. Here is where yoga came in. What a wonderful way to blend meditation and yoga exercises together, that way you get both mental and physical benefits during the session. No sit ups, no pushups, jumping jacks, nothing strenuous or impossible for someone my age.
This has been really good for my cardiovascular and A-Fib symptoms.

I bought a rowing machine, I got rid of my old exercising apparatus (I hardly used, not very pretty to look at either) and committed to my health one day! Amazingly, it offers yoga stretches with an online screen and other exercises as well (and I’ve lost 16 lbs). I’m in heaven now! I welcomed Mae to come over anytime and we’ll continue our journey in heart health and yoga together again. Have I mentioned I’m retired? So having a friend with you striving for the same goals, it’s heartening and fun all together. I’d like to encourage our senior population to at least try yoga but do your homework first and find a good fit for you. Look into Hatha, soft, gentle yoga, you’ll be glad you did!
Mental and physical health benefits of yoga, finding happiness and peace of mind
The application of yoga as a therapeutic intervention, takes advantage of the various psychophysiological benefits of the component practices. The physical exercises (asanas) may increase patient’s physical flexibility coordination, and strength, while the breathing practices and meditation may calm and focus the mind to develop
greater awareness and diminish anxiety. Thus, result in higher quality of life.
Other beneficial effects
A reduction of distress, blood pressure, and improvements in mood, and metabolic regulation. Decreasing stress, anxiety, fatigue, depression, cardiovascular endurance, post traumatic disorder, blood pressure and hypertension, are some of the conditions you may experience being relieved in practicing yoga and meditation. Sounds promising, and it could be, just set your mind to it and it will change your life. Make sure you get meditation in there as well, that’s a great start to having a happier life and peaceful mind, naturally .
